Peterborough, ON — Chris Potter has announced his candidacy for City Council in Ward 1, bringing forward a message focused on affordability, accountability, and the rebuilding of trust between residents and City Hall.
“I’m running because I love this community, and because I keep hearing the same concerns everywhere I go,” said Potter.
“Life is getting more expensive, basic issues are taking too long to fix and too many residents feel like they’re not being heard, with decisions being made around them instead of with them.”
An entrepreneur, actor and community advocate, Potter has built a reputation for bringing people together and showing up when it matters, be that through grassroots community efforts or by creating spaces where residents can connect, share concerns and support one another.
Potter’s campaign is built around three core priorities – listening and following through, keeping life affordable and getting back to basics.
Potter is positioning himself as an accessible, responsive voice on council – someone who listens, communicates clearly and takes action. “Listening matters but it has to lead to results. People deserve to see follow-through, not just promises.”
Potter is focused on ensuring the city prioritizes spending responsibly, making decisions that keep everyday life as affordable as possible for residents.
“People are already feeling the pressure of rising costs. Every decision at City Hall needs to reflect that reality and focus on where we can deliver the most value for the community.”
From roads and infrastructure to public safety and housing, Potter is committed to improving the core services residents rely on every day.
“People aren’t asking for anything unreasonable. They want safe neighbourhoods, reliable services and a city that works.”
Raised in a hardworking family, Potter experienced firsthand what it means to stretch every dollar and make tough choices. That perspective continues to shape his approach to leadership and his commitment to practical, people-first solutions.
“Every dollar matters at the kitchen table, and it should matter just as much at the council table. People in Ward 1 aren’t asking for miracles. They’re asking for common sense, accountability and results. That’s what I’m committed to bringing to City Hall and that’s what I’ll fight for daily as a city councillor.”
